Your life story is a gift, and it should be treated as such.
Emily V. Gordon
The Inspiration At the heart of every film I make is a passion for humanity, for people and their lived experiences. Recently, my mother gave me a photo album filled with images of our entire family tree, as far back as she could find. Listening to her recall who these people were, how they met and the stories of their lives, I was completely transfixed. In a lightbulb moment, I realised my love of humanity, filmmaking and storytelling could help other families experience the joy and fulfilment provided by a deeper understanding of their own families.
Poppy's Memorial
|
Poppy was a wonderful pet and friend to Holly and her family. A funeral director herself, Holly was inspired to write a book intended to help children and parents talk about and share their grief around the loss of their family pet.
For this short film, Holly asked me to film Poppy's burial service as a means of showing how positive such an experience can be. |
Tell your story When you’ve been making documentaries for a number of years, a simple truth emerges – every person has a unique, often incredible story waiting to be shared. Together, we can shape and celebrate your story in a way that will leave you with a professionally made film you can share and keep for future generations - a digital time capsule.
A few examples...
Legacy films Imagine a film starring your elderly loved ones, sharing their most significant life events, their values, their advice to a future generation. These would be longer films, predominantly talking heads, peppered with photographs requiring less editing so we can capture as much of their story as possible.
Memorial films There’s no getting away from it, losing a loved one is the most challenging experience a person, a family, will experience. Capturing the essence of what a person meant to us is a beautiful thing - shared stories of love, compassion and, quite frequently, humour.
It may be you’d like a film to show at your loved one's funeral or it may be that you simply wish to capture a permanent record of what they meant to you all before time erodes those memories. These would be shorter films of up to five minutes containing a selection of interviews, photography and any available archive footage.
Personal Docs You know it when you have a story you’d like to share – from 'big birthdays' to anniversaries, from life changing events to stories of triumph. Think significant life events, extraordinary collections or amazing things that have happened to you. These would be short, punchy docs between 3-5min.
